The 85km Old Ghost Road MTB cycle and tramping route partly follows the line of old mining tracks, joined by a new section though isolated backcountry which traverses a high level route above the bushline. A combination of contours and relief shading gives a realistic landform.
Most huts must be booked in advance. For further details: http://www.oldghostroad.org.nz/ The route is available for both MTB cyclist and trampers. The map shows the boundaries of the National Parks and other Reserves .
