Scale
Scales vary to suit the focus of the map. Six maps are small format (A3). 38 maps are large format (about A1) of which four are double-sided, and four are available folded or flat. Four maps are specially designed as wall maps and are only available flat.
Legibility
Recreational information is easy to read, complementing essential topographic information without clutter. A realistic landform provides a useful geographic context and encourages the user to engage with the landscape. The road network is very detailed and yet is clear and easy to follow.
Quality
Where print runs allow, maps are printed on Polyart synthetic waterproof paper. Tramping maps are printed on LandMap high-wet-strength paper.
Folded maps are presented in a clear vinyl wallet for protection. In many cases flat copies may be available for wall display, laminating, or mounting and framing. The maps reflect a high level of cartographic technology and production standards, resulting in a quality long-lasting product.
GPS
All maps are on the New Zealand Transverse Mercator projection and are GPS compatible. Refer NZTM Grid for details.
Accuracy
While not claiming to be "perfect", considerable effort has been made to ensure the accuracy and completeness of the information.
